Reading your post brought me back to my school years. One thing I learn about business in my education and in my business experience is that you can't never learn enough and you always have to find ways to improve, even when you're on top.

Comment on Blue Ocean Strategy - Ocean Strategy, Red or Blue, belongs in the Dead Sea!

Let's not forget that all things evolve and go through stages, business is no different. There are many niches where bidding wars occur and the small company just can't afford to keep up. There already are a lot of industry fields that focus on outsourcing, I can't really predict where would that lead us.

Comment on Blue Ocean Strategy - Ocean Strategy, Red or Blue, belongs in the Dead Sea!

dear writer,

I have no connections to the followers of the blue ocean strategy and nobody in my family has relatives with somebody, who is involved in the blue ocean strategy, may I therefore outline to you my opinion very objectively from business owner to business owner: Everything I followed here is probably true, but I am wondering myself, that there is so little exeptance and relaxed CEO emotional intelligence. Even if some are for sure against this strategic appoach, it should be taken for granted, that even the one with a low mindset will recognize, that this strategy has something to do with smart strategic thinking, mostly needed too. Of course it may not embrace all other profund and sense making strategic success concepts, but as ONE part of a hole strategic concept it could fit vey good, I am sure you concure with me about that. But to accuse in this way (Like somebody did) is not very open minded and to insist, that only my way is the best way, is ... I better don't comment that any further. Integration is key, a good thing squezzed a bit, but serving my needs, is better then other long developed concepts, which gets stove piped or scope creep, right!
So lets be more open minded and integrate what is useful, in order to get business successfully done or let's retire and focus thinking on holding some seminars at universites classrooms. Time and money is to precious, not to evaluate good things in the right manner, just the good things survive anyway...

thanks for your attention,

Bob Jasper
www.theartofquality.com
Orlando,FL

Comment on Blue Ocean Strategy - Ocean Strategy, Red or Blue, belongs in the Dead Sea!

Mike -

Although TRU lists "Blue Ocean Strategy" as one of the models considered among several for discussion, it is in the context of how NOT to do strategic planning. Two questions: 1) if it's that bad, why is it mentioned in TRU's strategic planning process delivery? 2) If US management thinking was that superior, how come the US car industry is now a basket case? As Shakespeare said, 'me thinks thou protesteth too much'.

Comment on Blue Ocean Strategy - Ocean Strategy, Red or Blue, belongs in the Dead Sea!

Thank you for such awakening comments.
